It’s been a busy year in California brewing. The state’s craft breweries now number more than 1,000, and industry growth hasn’t yet ceased, despite perpetual talk of a “craft beer bubble” burst.

At this year’s California Craft Beer Summit in Long Beach last weekend, hundreds of representatives from the state’s breweries, malthouses and hop growers gathered to share industry insights (and beer, obviously) and to engage in a friendly competition.

That contest was the California Craft Brewers Association’s first-ever California Craft Brewers Cup, described as a “California version of the Great American Beer Festival.”
