East Brother Beer Co. just won another big award for its beer. At the California Craft Brewers Cup in Long Beach, part of the California Craft Brewers Association’s annual conference, the Richmond-based brewery’s Bo Pils took the Gold Medal in the Bohemian-style Pilsner category. There’s the Great American Beer Festival, the World Beer Cup, and now California has its own competition. There’s a hot, new beer competition around: The California Craft Brewers Cup made its debut in August and quickly established itself as the second-largest beer competition in the U.S. Run by the California Craft Brewers Association, a trade group, the competition brought nearly 1,300 beers in 61 categories before a team of 80 judges, myself included.
